I’ve had this old Campy cotton cap and it has been my only hat in the drawer, so I decided to grab a new one; one that would be a little more suited for early spring/fall rides. Wool seemed like the obvious choice, and I just wanted something plain, until I saw this plaid Castelli. Plaid has it’s place in all things Americana, and being a deep lover of Americana I couldn’t help but add some backwoods flair to the european born sport. So far this is one of my favorite caps I have worn and the wool regulates the temp of your head perfectly. You can get it (10% off) at Bike Tires Direct, or find a local retailer here.

A great old advert from Adidas; found over at Kadisco.

Yesterday morning I went out with Conor and two guys from Kissena (Wai and Patrick) up to Piermont and back, a nice ride with nice company. The weather was perfect for this time of year; relatively warm and sunny. On the way back Conor stopped off and handed me the new El Cyclista kit that had just been made in a limited run by Champion System, super nice kit with great style. I particularly love the subtle pink band around the right leg, very classy.

Here at Domestique we recently got ahold of these stylish Vittoria shoes. Certainly not Vittoria’s most expensive pair, but well worth a look if you’re in the market for new shoes. They seem like a comfortable fit but won’t know for sure till more miles get logged on them. Until then, I have provided a bit of eye candy.

Rapha Classic Softshell Jacket
The Classic Softshell now comes in a brilliant red. Prefect shade for that christmas riding spirit!

Take a look at the new line here.

Mavic Helium Jacket
The lightest wind jacket…
“Innnovative construction and the Dura Lite SL fabric make this an extremely lightweight and compact jacket in case of cooler weather, wind or a rain shower.”
The jacket just arrived today; the fabric is perfectly light, well suited for a jersey pocket and the perforated side panels and underarms should help with breathability. Nice attention to detail and simply classic styling with modern materials. Will give a full review once we get some serious miles with it.
